Trent Bunston Strings

Violin ~ Viola ~ Cello ~ Double Bass

We are a string instrument specialist program providing students with paid opportunities to perform and teach. Too often students stop playing after the age of 18 due to a lack of further opportunities. We intend to see all those hours of practice utilised through motivating students to work towards teaching and performing at a professional level.

Students that can get something wrong 100 times but continue to persist in order to overcome any challenge.

Students that comprehend what it looks like and sounds likes to perform at a professional level in order to strive to reach the highest standards.

Efficient Practice

Students that understand how to implement focused practice in order to improve specific elements of their playing and progress at the fastest rate possible.

Knowledge of the signs, symbols and musical terminology.

How to play an instrument to maximise one's playing ability.

Determining when a note is in or out of tune, and the ability to correct one's intonation in order to produce perfect pitch.

Maintaining a consistent pulse throughout one's playing and the ability to listen and adjust one's rhythm in an ensemble.

The ability to play with musicality and in an engaging fashion.

Termly Recitals

Students are provided with the opportunity to showcase their developing abilities in front of an audience, motivating students in their practice and giving them positive performance experiences.

Students are prepared and invited to participate in the comprehensive network of performing string orchestras that run weekly across Melbourne. Top performing students are recruited in the chamber orchestras for paid performance opportunities at weddings and corporate events.

Technical & Theory Exams

Termly exams motivating students to comprehensively develop in all areas of their playing and knowledge.

Teacher Mentoring

Students are strategically developed in their communication, initiative, organisational skills, business skills and their ability to inspire and motivate students. Teacher mentoring is designed to prepare students to become competent teachers, but also develop their personal skills and prepare them for all future careers.
